Keeping secret travel plans

Travel plan secrets are no fun to keep.  These are some of the most exciting things and I am bursting to tell everyone about my plans even if they don’t care, and most likely they don’t other than an occasional gasp of “wow! that’s neat.”  Also, in an effort to keep my job and not get fired before I get to quit, I have to make sure and pay very close attention to everything I say and where I say it.  Facebook is an absolute no no and I can guarantee that if I were to put anything on there, that everyone at work would know within just a few minutes.

The great thing is when you  find someone that you can tell your plans to.  The kind of person that wants you to better your life and go on grand adventures.  These are the people I absolutely love talking to and I will probably talk their ear off  if I get the chance.  It’s difficult actually finding these people, who I like to call Yes people, I got it out of a business book.  It’s when you find a person that positively reinforces your goals or acheivements.  These people are like gold and they normally aren’t who you think.

Many of the people that I have told, especially those who believe we are being dumb for throwing away the American Dream are happy with what they are doing and don’t understand why anyone would want to do something different.  I choose to believe that we really are living the American Dream when we take our future into our own hands and make it our responsibility to succeed.  I believe using the freedom we have to make our dream come true is the best representation of the American Dream out there.

There are many days in which we can’t tell people, or post about it on facebook.  Sometimes they are sad, as I would love to have more friends know about what is going on.  At same time, it really does make me reflect on what I’m doing and why I’m doing it.  I am addicted to the thrill of travel, the self discovery it forces on us, and how it has shaped me already.  I like that person and that’s who I strive to be.

Keeping secret travel plans is fun, tiring, and after the first time of coming out with it, perhaps impossible.  So until then, I will stay here and dream of where I plan to be soon.

P.S. Thanks for sharing our secret.  Why don’t you share one with us?
